Activity

ISIG believes that the future of peaceful relations can be achieved by the reciprocal acknowledgement of cultural differences and regarding them as enriching resources rather than obstacles.

From this ISIG has developed the concept of “international sociology” which combines the theoretical structures of border sociology (centre and periphery concepts), rural-urban sociology and insights on international relations from political science and sociology.

ISIG starts each new activity with the in-depth analysis of the client goals and objectives. On the basis of these – and on its 40 years long experience – ISIG designs a proposal and a work plan that will meet the client’s needs in an efficient, effective and scientifically valid way.

ISIG carries out research on direct assignments, participating in public tenders promoted by organizations and agencies at regional, national and international levels and responding to calls for proposals from the EU and other international agencies.

Since its foundation, ISIG conducts its activities for the private sector and national and international agencies such as the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, the Province and the Municipality of Gorizia, various Italian Ministries, the European Commission, the Council of Europe and the UN (ECOSOC).

The activity of ISIG today focuses on:

  • scientific research
  • spatial planning
  • policy support to local communities, national and international institutions
  • research-action
  • consultancy and project making
  • surveys
  • organization of scientific events
  • brokerage of knowledge

ISIG promotes the mobility of science and researchers through the active participation of its researchers in seminars and national and international conferences, responding to specific requests for Consultancy work and producing Scientific Contributions to scientific books and national and international journals.
