The Citizens’ Assembly is a group of 60 people selected to provide a balanced representation of the cross-border community of Gorizia, Nova Gorica, and Šempeter-Vrtojba.
The goal is to discuss the impacts of GO! 2025, identify strengths and challenges, and formulate shared recommendations for the future of the region.
The Assembly will meet on the following dates:
- July 23, 2026
- September 10, 2026
- September 21, 2026
24 participants will be identified by the municipalities, while 36 will be selected through an open call via a random drawing and based on criteria of balance and diversity.

The Citizens’ Assembly is a structured forum for discussion composed of a group of individuals selected to provide a balanced representation of the cross-border community of Gorizia, Nova Gorica, and Šempeter-Vrtojba.
It is neither a political body nor a formal representative body.
It is a group of citizens who, through facilitated meetings supported by data and information, reflect on:
- Social and Cultural Impacts of GO! 2025
- Strengths and Weaknesses
- Future Prospects and Cross-Border Legacy
The goal is to formulate well-reasoned and consensus-based recommendations
Participants:
- will take part in structured meetings;
- will listen to informational presentations;
- They will discuss in small groups;
- will help draft the final recommendations.
No specific technical skills are required.
A willingness to engage in discussion and actively participate is required.
The Assembly will consist of 60 people:
- 24 identified by the municipalities of Gorizia, Nova Gorica, and Šempeter-Vrtojba
- 36 selected through an open call
Selection through the Open Call will be based on:
- preliminary definition of quotas (region, age, gender, educational background, area of experience)
- random selection within predefined groups
- creation of reserve lists for potential replacements.
This method is designed to ensure balance and a diversity of perspectives, preventing the participation of only those who are already involved or belong to the same field.
The selection of one of the four thematic areas (clusters) in the module serves solely an organizational purpose to ensure internal balance.
