Abstract: The scenarios that transport contributes to form in society and in the organization of space are the theme of this issue.
The approach is both technical, due to the considered transportation means, and social and economic, with reference to the needs that they must satisfy at best.
The first part concerns the relationship between types and styles of mobility and their compatibility with environmental protection.
The second part discusses the relation between transportation means (car, rail, air and subway) and the reorganization of the territory they require.
The last part develops the themes of possible technological changes in the future of transport with reference to the changes in daily life.
