Event – SPECIAL EVENT: TOPOGRAPHIES OF MEMORY

Within the CoE Seminar, attendees will be able to participate to”Topographies of Memory”, a “guided tour” through places of memories and the memories of the places of the border. During the tour, which will start from the public gardens and end in Piazza Transalpina, developing through the border crossings of the Red House and Rafut, we seek to understand the complex layers of stories and memories that characterize these spaces. This is not a typical tourist visit, but a journey through photographs, films and oral histories that will focus primarily on the life experiences of people who have lived in Gorizia (and later in Nova Gorica) in the first half of the twentieth century. Images, voices, interactive time lines will be available on smartphones and tablets thanks to the potential offered by the “Diffused museum of the border”, an innovative cross-border open-air museum. The project is coordinated by Quarantasettezeroquattro in collaboration with Isig and the National Museum of Contemporary History in Ljubljana and with the support of the program EACEA European Union.  The visit will be a participatory and dialogic, in which memories of the older generation will be confronted with the experience of visitors.
