Abstract: Rome is unique because it is a sedimentation of many items cumulated over time, in space, in semiotics, in the functions, in the trajectories of human life. This issue of Futuribili wants to seize the merger of these dimensions.
The first approach is led by representatives of the three Rome: Cardinal Achille Silvestrini speaks as the representative of the First Rome, Archimandrite Nilos Vatopedinos as representative of the Second Rome and Igumen Ioann as a representative of the Third Rome. They discuss the meaning and the function of the Third Rome and the importance of dialogue.
The second part of Futuribili is dedicated to the idea of the secular Third Rome: the attention is shifted from the orthodoxy to politics, diplomacy, international relations and internal relations in Russia.
The third part looks at how the “Third Rome” turns from a mystical dimension of religious and cultural vision into politics.
Finally Moscow-“Third Rome” is connected to the Russian society, to its civil society and people’s opinions and developed in a projection to the future.
