Abstract: Studies on the forecasting, from the viewpoint both of the practice and of its scientific, empirical and conceptual quality, are not widespread in Italy.
With this number of Futuribili we want first of all, in the first part, to offer a reference on the concepts of the predictive science, and touch on some issues related to the study of change.
The second part combines a multiplicity of social phenomena object of forecasting with the used methodological paths and forecasting techniques. Following this path, we can realize how the methods used for the forecast come to ordering reality, if not to creating the reality of which we want to observe “how it will be.”
Between these two extremes, the relationship between the method and the subject is understood in the present, in the future and in the process by which the present flows in the future, through concrete examples of probable, possible and desired forecasts.
