For ISIG, the event provided an opportunity to present the activities coordinated under WP1—Design of Cross-Border Strategies—which are aimed at deepening understanding of sustainable mobility and intermodality from both a cross-border and a local perspective.
Throughout the project, ISIG supported the partners involved in the Pilot Actions through a comprehensive research process based on the integration of various methods and sources. The work included a literature review, a market analysis, in-depth interviews with experts, as well as two surveys—one for residents and one for tourists—each of which yielded over 800 responses.
This research project provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of mobility habits, perceptions, and expectations, while also identifying common challenges and opportunities across the various regions involved in the project.
From Participation to Strategy: SUMMA’s Legacy for Local Communities
An important part of the process also took place directly at the local level. Stakeholders from all the territories involved in SUMMA participated in dedicated participatory activities, sharing their experiences and knowledge to explore new perspectives on sustainable mobility. Particular attention was paid to the needs, expectations, and aspirations of end users, helping to link strategic planning with the daily experiences of people who travel within and between different regions.
The main outcome of WP1 is the Strategy for Intermodal Mobility Solutions, which was developed and discussed with direct input from stakeholders in the mobility sector. The Strategy compiles the findings that emerged during the project and translates them into key messages and strategic guidelines for the future development of mobility systems.
The results produced through WP1 represent an important partof SUMMA’s legacy for local communities, public decision-makers, and mobility operators, offering useful guidance for designing mobility solutions that are increasingly efficient, sustainable, integrated, and easy to use.
The closing event thus marked the conclusion of an important collaborative journey, but also a new starting point: an opportunity to build on the knowledge, experiences, and relationships developed through SUMMA and transform them into future mobility solutions in Italy, Croatia, and beyond.
